What is Active Knit?
Active Knit is the Sport Pique Knit fabric from Spoonflower. It was one of the fabrics I originally tested in 2022, and I introduced it to the shop in 2023.
I ultimately decided to phase out this fabric completely for a variety of reasons. Continue reading to see why I stopped using it.
A Huge Drop in Quality
I started having quality issues with the Active Knit fabric in spring 2025. I’d order multiple yards of the same design, and they would arrive in completely different colors. I also noticed the fabric was snagging even more easily than before.
When I reached out to customer service, I was told that nothing had changed.
Customer Feedback Confirmed My Concerns
In addition to the quality issues, I had numerous customers tell me they preferred Adventure Fabric and Signature Fabric over Active Knit.
It was heavy when wet, didn’t dry as quickly, snagged easily, and simply didn’t hold up as well over time.
It just kept snagging
Knits can snag, and that’s simply the nature of the material. The problem is that a bandana that snags isn’t going to hold up well to everyday dog life.
As I my dogs continued wearing their Active Knit, I saw more and more snagging from normal wear. Dogs don’t just sit still. They run through brush, wrestle with their friends, roll around outside, and get into all kinds of mischief. I want fabrics that can keep up with that.
Durability has always been one of my biggest priorities, and I don’t feel comfortable using a fabric that I know won’t hold up as well over time.
I cannot in good conscience refer to this fabric as durable.
Why I Stopped Using Active Knit
Between the quality inconsistencies, customer feedback, slower drying time, and snagging issues, I ultimately decided to discontinue Active Knit completely.
My goal has always been to create bandanas that are comfortable for your dog, easy for you to care for, and durable enough to be worn again and again. Active Knit simply wasn’t meeting those standards anymore.
Today, I exclusively use Adventure Fabric and Signature Fabric because they provide the performance, durability, and everyday practicality that I want every Mr. M Bandanas product to have.
