About us

Hi! I'm Abby and my adorable little floof is Murray. I am a critical care travel nurse and wanted a travel buddy, so I rescued Mur a few years ago while working in Albuquerque NM. He was so skittish and had no confidence at first as he had been severely abused and neglected. I tried everything to raise his confidence. Wearing a bandana seemed to help (his fur was an absolute mess and had to be cut very short) so I jumped in and bought lots of fun bandanas. I had trouble finding cute yet boy-friendly designs that also fit well, so I decided I could just make them myself. I taught myself to sew and started making bandanas for him as well as my friends and family. I decided to sell the extra bandanas on Etsy but wanted to do some good with this project. I decided I would donate the profits to local shelters and rescues. Prior to adopting Murray, I was very naive about how underfunded and overcrowded most animal shelters are and wanted to help out. 

I started Mr. M Bandanas in 2022 as a small side hobby with the goal of making fun, well-fitting dog bandanas and donating the profits to animal shelters. After noticing a significant gap in the market for wearable, practical bandanas, I switched my focus to providing resilient, weatherproof, machine washable products that can be worn outside without having to worry about durability. This has transformed my small side hobby with modest goals into a small business. I am so humbled that so many of you enjoy my handmade bandanas. I have absolutely zero business experience as my entire professional career has been in healthcare, so this has been a fun learning experience. I still maintain my full-time job as a registered nurse, and I work on Mr. M Bandanas when I am not at the hospital. 

I am so thankful for the amazing friendships I’ve developed with fellow pet pawrents through MMB, and that we’ve been able to donate to so many rescue organizations. I am SO grateful for your love and support.
